Dear Members,
I would implore all of you to read the information given below: –
At last week’s CMC meeting the issue regarding Concessional Licence Code 404 was discussed and it was pointed out that discussions with the Department of Transport (DoT) have not been proceeding very well and that undesirable changes are likely to be introduced.
As such the CMC urges member clubs, and individual members, to write to the Minister for Transport and politicians of both the upper and lower houses in their area expressing their concerns. The CMC has prepared the attached draft template letter (the Word document down the bottom of this post) and requests it be widely distributed to political circles – and to all prospective candidates for the forthcoming elections – under the your own name. You can reword the letter to suit yourselves if you wish, as long as the intent is not changed. Please put your name and address on the letter, as well as the full name and address of the politician being targeted.
The local Members of Parliament in each club member’s area can be found under:
https://parliament.wa.gov.au/parliament/memblist.nsf/WebCurrentMembLC for the Upper House, and
https://www.parliament.wa.gov.au/parliament/memblist.nsf/WAssemblyMembers?openform for the Lower House.
The idea is to swamp all members and the Minister with complaint letters leaving them with the definite message that we want our 404 Concession left alone.
There is a requested time limit on you, our members, getting behind this request. It must completed by the middle of January 2021, so we don’t have time to waste.
“Please also send the letter of complaint to:
Hon. Rita Saffioti MLA
Minister for Transport; Planning
Minister.Saffioti@dpc.wa.gov.au
Level 9, Dumas House, 2 Havelock Street
WEST PERTH WA 6005
The Veteran Car Club has already written to the Minister for Transport.”
It is worth noting that of the 96 registered Model A’s I have on my lists, 72 are running on Concession Code 404 licences and only 24 remain on full licences so it is imperative that we, as a club, address this matter. I shall also be sending the requested letters under the MARCWA name.
With regards
Kathleen Kuenzel
MARCWA secretary
